ABOUT DOVER ISLAND

Dover Island are Melbourne’s okayest punk band. Their self-branded ‘heartbreak rock’ combines loud distorted guitars, huge drums and anthemic, emotional lyrics to create a worthy soundtrack for you to shout your lungs out to. For loaded tracks about navigating your teen years, feeling a bit shit, awkward situations and regrettable stories, Dover are here to hold your hair back and let you know you'll be alright.

Forming in a dusty garage in 2017, the band began with Holly O’Kelly [lead vocals, guitar] and Nathan Gunn [drums] soon joined by Jackson Spessot [bass], with Holly Ditchfield [vocals, guitar] completing the lineup just this year. The band have worked hard to establish themselves, building quite the impressive gig portfolio - supporting sold-out shows for the likes of Slowly Slowly, Approachable Members of Your Local Community and Surf Trash [NSW].

The band’s debut single ‘Casey’ dropped on triple j Unearthed in February 2019, and within the first week ranked ninth on the indie charts - receiving a warm reception from the online community. triple j's Declan Byrne described 'Casey' as “Punk tinged goodness”.

Then, in March, the band launched their first EP Participation Award with a raucous party for 100 of their closest friends. Cutting their teeth in the studio with Ben Stewart (Slowly Slowly), the band were stoked to make their debut. Dover Island pride themselves on their DIY attitude, and that didn’t waver going into recording, getting their hands dirty every step of the way.

After playing shows all around Melbourne testing the waters with their new material, the band have finally announced their next single titled 'Bad Advice Club' which will be released Nov 29. A song about the bad decisions, awkward situations and regrettable stories that come with being in your teens. To top it all off, Dover revealed they will be throwing a huge All Ages launch party to celebrate! At the iconic Wrangler Studios, the show will feature local up-and-comers Forever Renter, Sprung Bad and Barely Conscious! Tix available now HERE
